Terms of service

1. Who we are

LowFodmaps is a product of Alternativepurple, Unipessoal Lda, NIPC 516357948, Rua da Mata de São Mateus, Nº 34, Alto de Santa Catarina, 1495-735 Cruz Quebrada - Dafundo, Portugal ("AlternativePurple", "we"), reachable at hello@mudacorp.com. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use LowFodmaps, including the free food table.

2. LowFodmaps is not medical advice

LowFodmaps is a self-help tool: a food table, a general plan for the low-FODMAP diet, and a diary. It gives general information. It is not a medical device and it does not give medical, nutritional or dietetic advice, a diagnosis or a treatment. We are not your doctor or your dietitian, and using LowFodmaps does not create any such relationship.

The food ratings and portions are a general guide written from widely published guidance. Tolerance differs from person to person, FODMAP content depends on portion, ripeness and preparation, and research is revised. A rating may be wrong or out of date. LowFodmaps is not affiliated with Monash University and does not reproduce its data. The "suggested verdict" in a food test is a simple rule applied to the scores you entered, not an assessment of your health.

The low-FODMAP diet is restrictive and is meant to be followed for a limited time, ideally with a qualified dietitian. Talk to a doctor before starting it — in particular if your symptoms are new or have not been diagnosed, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are underweight, if you have or have had an eating disorder, if you have diabetes, coeliac disease or another medical condition, or if the diet is for a child.

See a doctor promptly, whatever LowFodmaps shows, if you have blood in your stool, unexplained weight loss, fever, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, symptoms that wake you at night, or pain that is severe or getting worse. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Never ignore professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or logged in LowFodmaps.

You decide what you eat. You use LowFodmaps, and act on what it shows, at your own risk.

3. Your account

You must be 18 or older. An account is for one person. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what is done through your account. Give us an email address you can receive mail at — it is how you sign in.

4. The free food table

The food table is free to use without an account. We may change it or what it includes at any time. Section 2 applies to it in full.

5. Trial, price and cancellation

A subscription starts with a free trial of 7 days. We ask for a payment card when the trial starts; it is first charged on day 8 unless you cancel before then. The price is the one shown at checkout, taxes included where the law requires.

The subscription renews automatically each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Manage billing; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for and are not charged again. Payments are processed by Stripe.

If you are a consumer in the European Union you have 14 days to withdraw from a contract concluded online. Because the trial already lets you try everything, and to keep this simple: if you are charged and tell us within 14 days of that first charge that you do not want LowFodmaps, we refund the charge in full. Write to hello@mudacorp.com.

If we change the price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.

6. What you write is yours

Your entries belong to you. You give us permission to store and display them to you so the service can work — nothing more. How we handle them is described in the Privacy policy. You can download or delete them at any time.

7. Using LowFodmaps fairly

Do not try to access other people's data, disrupt the service, copy the food table in bulk to republish it, or use LowFodmaps for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account that does.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep LowFodmaps available and correct, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. We may improve, change or remove features. If we remove something that materially reduces what you pay for, we tell you in advance and you may cancel and be refunded for the unused part of the period you paid for.

9. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that: LowFodmaps is provided as it is, as a general information and tracking tool. We are not liable for decisions you make about your diet or your health, for symptoms or health outcomes that follow from them, or for losses arising from a food rating being inaccurate, since the service is not a substitute for professional advice. We are not liable for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen, or caused by events outside our control.

Where our liability can be limited, it is limited in total to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Ending

You can stop using LowFodmaps and cancel at any time. We may end or suspend your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if a payment fails and is not resolved; if we end it for any other reason, we refund the unused part of the period you paid for. You can download your data before leaving, and ask us to delete your account.

11. Law and complaints

These terms are governed by the law of Portugal. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.

If something is wrong, write to hello@mudacorp.com first — we will try to fix it. Consumers in Portugal may also use the electronic complaints book (livroreclamacoes.pt) and a consumer arbitration centre; the list is at consumidor.gov.pt.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For a change that matters, we tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect; if you do not agree, you can cancel before then. The date at the top shows the current version.
